Restaurant anno 1640 - Bernkastel-Kues, Mosel
The historical quarters of the Märchenhotel were originally a wine tavern- the oldest
in Germany. Stefan Krebs and his team have come up with new goals for the restaurant. The previously named "Älteste Weinstube"
in the Märchenhotel has been partially rebuilt and has received the new name "anno 1640", which refers to the gastronomical
foundation of this historical building.
Further changes were also brought to the food and drinks that are offered. The menu has been bound as a fairy-tale book,
the "Culinary Narratives", and the best wineries of the Moselle region are presented in the "Wine-Cultural Narratives",
the wine menu. The cooking-style can be described as upscale, regional specialties with molecular expertise.
The service is deliberately classical which means we still flambe and carve in the restaurant itself.
It of course didn’t take long until the leading restaurant guides published their first articles.
